Congratulations to the ’16-’17 Minstrel Editors

The Minstrel is excited to see many strong returning editors for their ’16-’17 academic year including Kellie Dietrich, Will Edwards, Lauren Trumbull and Jaci Wendel. There are also three new editors, Alex Lingle, Kimmie Semiday and Chris Shaddock, who have all attained their positions through great writing skills and dedication to The Minstrel.

Editor-in-Chief | Kellie Dietrich

Kellie Dietrich is a senior communication major with a minor in journalism. She is the editor-in-chief of The Minstrel after serving as features editor and staff writer in her past three years. Kellie has interned at the Lehigh Valley Arts Council writing blogs for their website and also at swb&r where she was on the other side of stories writing press releases and pitching journalists. In addition, this is Kellie’s second year as the president of the communication honor society Lambda Pi Eta, Omega Eta chapter.

Managing and Online Editor | Will Edwards

Will Edwards is a senior communication major with minors in journalism and marketing, and is currently the managing and online editor of The Minstrel after serving as the sports editor for two years. Will has interned at WFMZ-TV 69 News, Rodale Inc.’s Bicycling magazine and the DeSales communications office, and he’s been a contributor for Advance Local affiliate When he’s not running around campus as a member of the cross country and track and field teams at DeSales, Will can be found tending to his duties as a resident adviser, peer writing tutor  and co-chairman of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Layout Editor | Alexander Lingle

Alex Lingle is a sophomore communication and media studies double major with a digital art minor, and is serving as The Minstrel’s layout editor this year. Before he kicks the bucket, he wants to travel to Europe, live in New York City and live along the coast in California. In his spare time, he enjoys creating graphic design projects, taking pictures and hiking. He’s very excited to work with the other editors to make ’16-’17  the Minstrel’s best year yet!

News Editor | Jaci Wendel

Jaci Wendel is a senior English and philosophy major and creative writing minor, serving as the news editor for her final year with The Minstrel. She is president of both the Creative Writing Club and DiScoUrse Creative Writing Honors Society, and has been published in DeSales’ literary magazine. After graduation, she hopes to move to Pittsburgh and get a job in publishing. The two loves of Jaci’s life are coffee and books.

Features Editor | Lauren Trumbull

Lauren Trumbull is a junior at DeSales and the features editor of The Minstrel. She is also the contributing editor for the DeSales chapter of Odyssey. She majors in communication with an emphasis on public relations, publishing and editing. Lauren works in the data entry department of the DeSales Admissions office and as a sales associate at American Eagle. She is originally from New York State, but has spent most of her life living in Center Valley. Lauren hopes to graduate in 2018 and find a job in Manhattan.

A&E Editor | Kimberly Semiday

Kimberly Semiday is a senior at DeSales and the arts and entertainment editor for The Minstrel. Currently, she is a communication major with a focus on publishing, editing and writing, along with a creative writing minor. Kimberly is a member of DiScoUrse Creative Writing Honors Society, was published in DeSales’ 2016 literary magazine, Weal, a DREAMS mentor and works with Raub Middle School’s SADD program. Upon graduation, Kimberly hopes to continue her education abroad to attain her MFA.

Sports Editor | Chris Shaddock

Chris Shaddock has been a member of The Minstrel since he was a freshmen and this is his first year as sports editor. He is currently a sophomore at DeSales and is majoring in communication, as well as minoring in journalism and creative writing. Chris also runs for the cross country and track team for Desales and takes pictures for the yearbook. His hobbies include writing, running, reading, playing videogames and taking pictures.
