Looking to be more athletically involved on campus? Well look no further. DeSales offers a wide variety of intramural sports and clubs to join. Intramural clubs are a great way to stay physically active and have fun while doing it. Some of these many options on campus include the swing club and zumba.
The swing club is a pairs dancing club that focuses on giving students the opportunity to learn to swing dance. It is also a great way to get out and meet new people on campus. The club meets weekly in the Kender room of McShea from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
“The [swing] club appeals to anyone looking for a way to have fun dancing with others, learn and teach different styles of dance and just relax and get some exercise,” said Harry Reed, “You don’t need to be a dance major to enjoy the club. All levels of experience are welcome.”
Zumba is a an aerobic fitness program that incorporates a style of Latin music and dances. It gives students a fun and interactive way to work on their cardio base. Most people who attend the zumba class are not dance majors, but it is very common to see people attend the classes on a weekly basis. Classes take place in the aerobics room of Billera Hall on Mondays and Thursdays from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
“Zumba is a great way to gain a sense of rhythm, and it is an overall good time. People have a lot of fun dancing and interacting with others around them,” said zumba instructor, Kelly Angelucci.
